Your website looks professional. You paid good money for it. But the phone isn’t ringing and the contact form is empty. If your service business website is not generating leads, the cause is usually one of a handful of fixable problems.

Here are seven common ones, and what to do about each.

1. It’s a digital business card

A lot of sites just say who you are. They don’t ask the visitor to do anything.

Fix: Give every page one clear next step. “Call now,” “Get a free quote” or “Book online.” Put it at the top and again at the bottom.

2. The phone number is hard to find

If people have to hunt for your number, many won’t bother.

Fix: Put a tap-to-call number in the header of every page. Add a short contact form on your main pages too.

3. It says “we do everything”

“Quality service for all your needs” tells people nothing.

Fix: List your main services clearly, each with its own section or page. Say who you serve and where. “Water heater repair and replacement in Mesa, Chandler and Gilbert.”

4. It’s hard to use on a phone

Most local searches happen on phones. Tiny text, slow pages and buttons too small to tap lose people fast.

Fix: Open your site on your phone. Can you find the phone number and tap it in five seconds? Can you read everything without zooming? If not, fix that first.

5. There’s no proof

People need a reason to trust you over the next result on Google.

Fix: Show:

  • Recent reviews
  • Before-and-after photos
  • Licenses, insurance and certifications
  • Your guarantee
  • Photos of your real team and trucks

6. It’s slow

People leave slow pages.

Fix: Compress big images, remove plugins you don’t use and use decent hosting. Test with Google’s free PageSpeed Insights tool.

7. It never changes

A site with a 2022 promo and old photos looks neglected.

Fix: Update it a few times a year. New photos, recent reviews, current offers and accurate hours.

The part your website can’t do alone

Your website gets the call once people find it. It’s not great at getting found in the first place. That’s where your Google Business Profile, reviews and social posts come in.

  • Google Business Profile: complete it and post updates. Our local SEO guide covers the basics.
  • Reviews: ask after every job.
  • Social posts: show your work every week, so people see you’re active before they ever visit your site.

PostPixel helps with that last part. It turns your business photos into branded posts for Facebook, Instagram, Google Business Profile and LinkedIn. PostPixel doesn’t build or edit websites.

FAQ

Why does my website get visitors but no leads?

Usually because the next step isn’t clear, the phone number is hard to find or there isn’t enough proof to build trust.

How do I get more people to my website?

A complete Google Business Profile, steady reviews and regular social posts all send people your way.

Should I redo my whole website?

Usually not. Fix the seven issues above first.
